Currency field

The Currency field icon (a banknote) currency field stores a numeric value in the specified currency. For example, the cost of an item.

The specified currency symbol and format (thousands and decimal separators and the position of the currency symbol) are used to display the value. When entering a value, only numeric values are stored; any non-numeric characters are removed when you leave the field.

What's this in FileMaker?

Currency fields in Claris Studio are similar to number fields in FileMaker Pro apps, except that you can't add formatting or enter text.

When connected to your Claris Studio data source, FileMaker Pro apps can access these fields as FileMaker number fields. The currency symbol and format specified in Claris Studio aren't available, but you can specify them when you add the corresponding field object to a layout in FileMaker Pro.
